Our lodging for tonight was the
Jasper Park Lodge, located in Jasper National Park. It was a short bus ride from the station.
As we came into Jasper we saw the Jasper Skytram gondola heading up Whistlers Mountain. We didn't ride it though. |
This was the end of the rail part of our trip - for the next couple of days we would be sightseeing along the scenic Icefields Parkway via bus, I mean, "motorcoach".
After a short sendoff from our hosts we said goodby to the Rocky Mountaineer train |
Trying to find our room, which are spread out over the property like cabins. Once we arrived on the bus a hotel staff member came on board and gave us a brief welcome, then as we stepped off another person gave us our room keys and pointed us in the general direction we were supposed to go. |
From my notes: "Unbelievably beautiful" |
Each cabin-like building has a group of rooms. There are also individual cabins, 2-story group buildings, and other configurations. |
We finally found ours. Our luggage would arrive about 30 minutes after us. |

Walking around the lake to meet the group at the main lodge.
Is that a sasquatch? |

The main lodge |
We met up with our group at a table in the lodge's great room and had drinks and snacks. I had a couple of Monte Cristo coffees (Kahlua, Grand Marnier, coffee and whipped cream) and house-made kettle chips while watching them play
Mexican train dominoes. At 9pm I said my goodbyes and headed back to the room for the night.
