Rocky Mountaineer Canada Trip 2019 - Day 4, Part 1

A glorious morning
A glorious afternoon
A glorious evening

We started this morning about the same as yesterday:  Get up (at 6am this time), have the bags ready and by the door for pickup, and be downstairs in time to catch the bus at 7:15.  We made it to the station and were onboard the train at 7:45.

Morning view from the hotel

Today's train was only 12 cars and 2 locomotives with approx. 400 on board.  Our excursion was destined for Jasper while the other half of the train left for Banff earlier that morning.

The day prior on the train the hosts/attendants passed out catalogs and order forms for Rocky Mountaineer merchandise.  We ordered a t-shirt for ourselves and a small polar bear sculpture for Todd's mom.  When we made it to our seats on this morning the items were waiting for us.  Everyone had a chance to inspect their goods and either purchase, exchange or return them.  Ours were fine so we bought them.

Since we were in the 2nd dining group today we received a cinnamon scone and coffee snack while the 1st group ate downstairs.  The breakfast selections were the same as the day before, so when our turn came to eat I ordered the Sunrise Skillet again.  In addition they served a sweet bun and a berry-banana smoothie.  We were stuffed.

Now here's a bunch of landscapes.

While waiting our turn for lunch we were served wine and cheese, and bread and dried fruit

While there were plenty of views to be had, much of the journey was also spent traveling through a corridor of trees
At 12:55pm the train slowed for photos as we passed Pyramid Falls
As a result of the overnight train reconfiguration, we didn't a 2-level car in front of ours today.  This was the view out the front window of our passenger area.

Around 2 o'clock we passed this train-side memorial to the Canoe River train crash of November, 1950

Finally at 2:15 it was our turn for lunch.  I sat with Mom while Todd enjoyed luxury seating for one.

The Maple Bacon Chicken was good.  Dessert was an apple/rhubarb crumble with ice cream.
Moose Lake.  3:05pm.
Incredible view

We reached Jasper at 5:45pm.  I'll pick up there in the next post.
