Camping At Disney World 2018 - Day 5

Animal Kingdom was next on our agenda, and this would be our first time to experience Pandora - The World of Avatar.

Wildlife in the campground

Someone was not ready to get up

You can see Pandora from the Animal Kingdom entrance plaza

This is probably our favorite park
The Tree of Life
"Floating" islands in Pandora
Alien flora everywhere
Out of this world
A few surprises to be had...
...like getting splashed
Strange vegetation

We ate lunch at Satu'li Canteen in Pandora and it was delicious* - definitely a cut above standard theme park counter-service fare.  We would go back again that evening for dinner.

*At lunch I had a "Cheeseburger Steamed Pod", which was a steamed bun filled with ketchup-y hamburger.  It was ok (I think it's now only on the kids menu and I can see why), but at dinner I had a chili-garlic shrimp bowl and it was terrific.  Plus the desserts were great.

Chocolate cake
Blueberry cream cheese mousse

We were unable to secure fastpasses for Avatar Flight of Passage, the E-ticket ride in Pandora, but we did have them for the other attraction in the land.

Na'vi River Journey is a relaxing water boat journey (like It's a Small World), through a dark and glowing rainforest.  It's pretty to look at, and there is one incredible animatronic near the end of the ride, but other than that it's pretty much a meh from me.  I wouldn't wait more than 15 minutes to do it again in the future - certainly not the 2 hour wait we would have had if we hadn't had fastpasses.

Flight of Passage though...now there's a ride.  It was kind of like Soarin' on steroids and was really fun.  We got in the 2-hour posted standby line which stretched to 3 hours while we were in line due to technical difficulties with the ride.  Would I wait 3 hours to ride it again?  No.  Would I wait 2 hours to ride it again - probably.  Get a fastpass if you can, although you'll miss some of the cool queue elements, like the specimen below.

Pandora at night is dark and beautiful with lights...oops, sorry, bioluminescence... everywhere

Heading out of the park and past the Animal Kingdom Christmas tree
