Camping At Big Bend National Park 2019 - Day 4, Part 2: After Hiking

We finished out the day with a stop at the hot spring on the way to the shower, and a sunset viewing gathering.

Back at camp, walking to our campsite
A short while later, driving through the desert to the hot spring which comparatively is a refreshing 105°F

Driving off the main road to get there
You have to park and hike a short ways to the spring.  A sign in the parking area tells you that thefts frequently occur and to leave your car unattended at your own risk (which we did).  Luckily the sign didn't apply to us that day.
A river oasis in the desert
The spring is surrounded by stone
Todd stuck his tootsies in
Back on the baking road to the bathroom, or
Striking out again on the sizzling surface to the showers

Working our way back to the Chisos Mountains.
According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, the name may stem from the Castilian word hechizos, meaning "enchantment", or from chisos, a Native American word meaning "ghost" or "spirit".  What do you think?
Better like this...
...or like this?
We passed a TCU Department of Geological Sciences van
That evening we walked up to the lodge and joined several people on the nearby paved trail to watch the sun set through the Window
Looking back at the lodge
Todd reflects on the day as the sun sets
A gorgeous sunset to cap off the day
