Chicago Trip 2012 - Day 4, Part 3

(Listening to Lou Reed/John Cale - Songs for Drella as I write this - excellent album about the life of Andy Warhol).

After the planetarium we walked to the Field Museum, which is the natural history museum.  We had about an hour before it closed.

The Field Museum

In the Underground Adventure exhibit - or the cave on Gilligan's Island?

Sue the Usedtobeasaurus

The toothy grin of a dead monster

This is coincidentally the way most cavemen died - "Say cheese!" - *CHOMP*

When I was young I had a book about poltergeist and ghosts.  This reminds me of the cover photo, sans apparition.

Surprisingly this is the second most common way cavemen died - a massive fatal case of dino mono

Have you ever seen the 1979 movie Prophecy...?

This was amazing

Because why not?
The museum had a Corner Bakery inside it, so after viewing the exhibits we took a cookie and water break.

After the museum we walked to Buckingham Fountain.  I took this photo on the way:

Better like this...?
or better like this?

You may recognize Buckingham Fountain as the fountain shown during the intro on the TV show Married with Children.  It was pretty windy at this point.

This is the exact moment that I started to feel sick - at the Buckingham Fountain in Chicago on a windy day.  We sat down on a bench for a few minutes as I suddenly felt terrible and worn out.  The sun was still beating down and it was hot.  I decided I needed to eat something, so we walked across the Millennium Bridge to Millennium Park, then across the street to Panera Bread.  I ate chicken lemon orzo soup, half a ham and swiss on rye, an apple and water.  I felt a little better after eating, so we checked out the comic book shop across the street (a bust) and then headed back to the hotel.  We caught the red line train at Macy's and rode it to the Chicago and State stop.  We walked from there back to our hotel.

I would feel much better the next day, but whatever bug I had picked up hit me hard on the way home.
