Vegas/Pet Shop Boys - Day 2

The day of the Pet Shop Boys concert and the morning was bright and clear.  We slept in until 10-ish because, Vegas, then got ready and headed out.  Our only goal for the daytime was to walk over to The Cosmopolitan and find out where exactly we needed to go later that night.

Good morning Las Vegas
Yep, I'm awake now

We entered The Cosmopolitan, walked through the casino, up the escalators, then again, then again, then walked a long way past restaurants, sitting areas, then meeting rooms, more meeting rooms, more meeting rooms, then suddenly we arrived at The Chelsea theater.  It was strange to think that there was a theater tucked away at the back of the hotel after all the meeting/convention rooms, but there it was.

Aha!  We must be near.
The Chelsea.  So surreal to see this just in the middle of a hallway.  Now that we're navigated for tonight, where should we eat lunch?  Oh, I know - how about...
Eggslut.  You heard me.
Also in the Cosmopolitan, this egg/sandwich place had a very long line and turned out to be worth the wait.
*drool*
After lunch we walked through a few other casinos/hotels/malls.  The Shops at Crystals near the Aria hotel/casino had this cool vortex water feature.  I later found out it was designed by the same firm that did the Bellagio's fountains:  WET

After all that walking around we made our way back toward our hotel, stopping in the Cosmopolitan again for adult shakes at Holsteins.  This is a Campfire S'mores shake which contains marshmallow vodka, graham cracker, chocolate sauce, toasted marshmallow, s'mores candy stick, s'mores chocolate balls, chocolate covered graham crackers, vanilla frosting and graham crumble.  I had no idea.  It was delicious.
The older folks at the next table were staring us down when our shakes arrived.  I think their "tsk, tsk" faces belie their jealousy.
You can also see Todd's "Fat Boy" shake which had just about every kind of candy in it you can imagine.
Fueled now by sugar and vodka, we made it back to our hotel and relaxed until it was time to get ready for the concert
Cleaned and dressed, we went back to the Cosmopolitan, made our way up and back to the theater and waited for the doors to open.  I stepped out of the line to get a picture of the growing crowd (getting a few stares in the process).  Just before they let us go in they announced the show would be delayed an hour and would now start at 9pm.  Fine by me.  We sat down and I got to know the woman in the seat next to ours.  She was a PSB fan from nearby Henderson and was there with her college-age son.
Stage view - purple lights hiding two big circles.  Circles were the continuous theme throughout the show.
Looking up
People are starting to get seated

At 9pm the lights went down and the show started.  And it was excellent - PSB played a mix of new and old hits, and a few songs that they don't normally play in concert.  The lights/lasers/visuals were fantastic and well suited for each song.

What a great show!  So excited that we'll get to see it again in New York.  Afterwards we walked back to the Bellagio for a bite to eat, but first we stopped and watched the fountains one last time since we would be leaving tomorrow.  As luck would have it, the song was Elvis's "Viva Las Vegas" - what a great way to wrap things up.
Walking through the gorgeous botanically decorated Bellagio conservatory
The Jean Philippe patisserie is decorated to the nines for Halloween.  Todd and I shared a delicious "Forest' crepe:  a buckwheat crepe filled with Swiss cheese, black forest ham, wild mushroom fricassee, and scrambled egg.  It was made at the counter while I watched, and was so good - it was gone before we knew it.

What a day!  We made it back to the room around midnight and crashed.
