Vegas/Pet Shop Boys - Day 1

Last week we took a short trip to Las Vegas to see the Pet Shop Boys in concert.  We're big fans and always catch them on tour, but this year they didn't come to Dallas.  What to do?  Well...

The Vegas show was the first U.S. stop on their SUPER tour.  We flew out the day before the concert and flew home the day after.

Todd (and my desk) is a mess
That's better.  At Love Field enjoying a Dunkin' Donut before our flight
Hanging above Todd's head is SKY by artist Brower Hatcher
Waiting in line to take off

AT&T Stadium (Dallas Cowboys), Globe Life Park (Texas Rangers), Six Flags Over Texas (Titan coaster) and Hurricane Harbor (water park)
A closer look
The Grand Canyon
More of the Grand Canyon.  Massive.
Lake Mead and Black Island.  Not much of an island now.  This year Lake Mead reached it's lowest point since it was originally filled.
Welcome to Las Vegas
A short Uber ride later and we're arriving at the Bellagio.  Across the way is Paris.
In line for check-in, looking at the Bellagio lobby and casino beyond
Registration.  Flowers everywhere
They change the decorations out seasonally
We arrived early, so we left our bags at the bell desk and went across the street for lunch at the Earl of Sandwich
Hmm...that's not any better.  Oh well, just got a text saying our room was ready.
All hotel hallways look like The Shining to me

The view from the room.  Looks hot, but the weather was pretty mild.

After unpacking we decided to walk down the strip.  On the way we see the Trump hotel...
...which the day before (10/19 - the 3rd presidential debate held at UNLV) had been surrounded by a wall of taco trucks and protesters.

Dusk arrives
Back at the Bellagio and having dinner at Fix.  The steaks and roasted carrots were excellent.  The crispy fries?  Not so much.  The Irish coffee I had with dessert?  The best I've ever had!
Todd's relaxed.  Could it be the bottle of wine?

There go the fountains

Panning to the left we see Caesars Palace and the Flamingo
To the right (looking out the window by the bed) is The Cosmopolitan.  This is where the concert will be the next day.
