There Can Be Only One...Ok, Maybe Two

Let's talk pizza.

Fun fact:  Hamburger/ground beef is my pie of choice - pepperoni has always been a runner-up.

Since I've never apparently stated it before in this blog (which I find hard to believe, but it's true), Gina's Pizza in Burleson, TX is hands-down the best pizza ever.  It's a small, dimly-lit, used to be smoke-filled-and-maybe-still-is hole-in-the-wall pizza parlor and I say that with love in my heart.  Perfect piping-hot or as cold leftovers the next day, I would eat it everyday if I could.  It's my opinion, but then that's what counts in this forum.

December 2012, but also timeless
The reason I espouse this now is because I don't make it to Burleson as often as I'd like, and when I do I rarely have a chance to have Gina's.   So I make do with what I can find in these parts.

Recently I've found a close 2nd, which is what I wanted to share tonight:  Classic Chicago Gourmet Pizza.  We've gone there a couple of times now, most recently this past Sunday.

THE pizza to get is the The Great Chicago Fire, which is spicy sausage, sport peppers, garlic, cilantro and Mozzarella.

It's like eating the sun, but you keep eating anyway and smile through the tears
It definitely surpasses it's name and will bring tears to your eyes even if you ask them to halve the amount of peppers, which I've learned to do, but damn is it good.  The combination of the hot, vinegary bite of the peppers, spicy sausage and most of all the cilantro - my god, the cilantro! - is perfection.  Even though you may be shouting "fire down below!" later, it's definitely worth it.  You know what, I'm going to change that to "bombs away!", as I think that was a better description for my aftermath.  Still definitely worth it.

So, while it doesn't quite compare to Gina's Pizza, it's my local-ish favorite for now.
